![]() It's very possible you might not need it to feel inspired or creative and can get by just fine with semi weighted, but for me, I really regretted it every time I settled for semi weighted to save a bit of money. I should also note that I am a pianist, so fully weighted is important to me. Unfortunately i had hours of researching involved to figure out why it kept changing other channel fader values when it was supposed to be changing the NI instrument values. Its a good keyboard controller but I want ZERO issues. The arturia keylab 88 has the same keybed as the KK S88 but also some drum pads, or you could go for a decent hammer action electric piano like you mentioned for a better price while still getting the keybed. There are other ones as well, the M Audio hammer 88 pro has good reviews and lots of great midi functionality, or if you dont need the pads, sliders, and knobs right away and youre looking for just a nice keybed, the standard Hammer 88 has the same keybed as the pro but only the keys, pitch, and mod wheel. Honestly, I really don't think the screens and light guide are all that and while they're convenient, in the long run I wish I had just gotten an electric piano for around the same price or even cheaper that has fully weighted keys and USB midi, just to have a bit of a nicer keybed. The Mk1 was enough issues with its keybed that it also probably isn't worth it. The S49 and S61 have a slightly nicer keybed than the A series, but they're still semi weighted, unfortunately. Two or three years later I got a great deal on the Akai Advance 61 (which was one that attracted me ages ago) and I convinced myself that the 49 keys got in the way of my creativity and 61 would be better, and semi weighted would be fine cause this keyboard is higher end anyways. The Komplete Kontrol A61 brings NI quality controller technology at a more price conscious level.
